Talein, born Kia Talein Anderson, is multi-talented and enthusiastic about sharing her gifts and talents with the world. She is a singer, songwriter, gospel-recording artist, radio/television host, model, actress, writer, graphic designer, entrepreneur and certified life empowerment coach.

This graceful, stylish, classy, award-winning artist is known for her angelic voice and explosive stage
presence. When she sings into the mic, her unassuming persona quickly fades as she unleashes her powerful vocals, giving you goose bumps all over. You realize Queen Talein is on the scene and she means business. She has experience in many platforms of media and has been featured in gospel stage plays, jingles, voiceovers, newspapers, magazines, radio and television shows and loves hosting red carpet events. She is most comfortable on stage doing what she was born to do.

When she auditioned for Tyrone Fox, the Las Vegas Entertainer known as “T-Fox”, he was absolutely blown away by her vocal talent, poise and personality. He immediately added her to his high-energy “House Party Variety Show” and in 2012 and 2014 this dynamic duo performed for
many sold out audiences at the 1,500-seat Superstar Theater in the world-famous Resorts Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. T-Fox was excited to have such a spiritual and humble talent match his passion, professionalism and charisma. In fact, he and the crowd were so impressed with Talein, T-Fox made her his Co-headliner in 2014!

Showing an interest in the arts at an early age, Talein took ballet lessons at age 5, sang in school productions, competed in talent competitions and pageants, attended modeling schools, and received formal vocal training. As a teen, it was obvious that her passion for music dominated her dreams. She began writing and recording original material for a demo while performing solo or with a band at
weddings, anniversaries, churches, conventions, school and community events, and private affairs.

In 1992, Talein gave her life to the Lord but continued her lifestyle as a mainstream secular artist. Having grown up in the Motown, Disco, and Soul Train Eras, Talein was heavily influenced by the great artists and good music of those eras. Covering popular songs by Whitney Houston, Patti
LaBelle, Celine Dion, Yolanda Adams, Teena Marie, Denice Williams, Mariah Carey, Stephanie Mills and many more is like breathing for her. She was laser focused on pursuing a professional career in the industry and began circulating her demo tape. Finally, her efforts paid off in1993 when
Talein was selected to be the lead female vocalist for Atlantic Starr and recorded the CD, “Time” on Arista Records. She was blessed to work with award-winning songwriter, Diane Warren, one of the most prolific songwriters in the music industry. Diane has written hits for Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, and Toni Braxton to name a few.

But after leaving the group Atlantic Starr in 1993, she felt depressed, despondent and broken. She decided it was the time to accept her call, follow Christ with her whole heart, and give her talents back to HIM. Seeking solace in her faith, she turned her attention and talent to gospel music, joining a few groups and doing local performances before becoming a Praise and Worship Leader. However,
Talein’s creative energy and versatility would not allow her to stop there. She wanted to praise Him and write about HIS goodness believing that meaningful lyrics touch the heart and soul of others.

Meanwhile her Mom was writing poetry as a hobby. This inspired Talein to collaborate with her Mom, La-Tina Smith, to write and record her debut gospel masterpiece entitled, “Don’t Turn Your Back on God,” It was released on her independent label Angelic Vibe Music, Inc. in 2007. This 10-
song CD garnered Talein new fans throughout the U.S. and abroad, paving the way for her first international television debut performance on Candi Staton’s show, “Say Yes” which aired on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN)--the largest Christian television network in the world. She has also
been a guest performer on “Nite Line”, aired on station WGGS TV, home of Carolina Christian Broadcasting in Greenville, SC that reaches over 940,000 households; “Atlanta Live” on station WATC TV57 in Norcross, GA and Channel 7 News in Washington, D.C.

Talein has received numerous awards in recognition of her talent, hard work, dedication and outstanding contributions throughout her lifetime. Her very first music award was the Youth Gospel Choice Awards Best Female Artist for 2008. She was given her most prestigious honor in 2017
when she received a Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award signed by President Barack Obama for her life-long commitment to volunteer service.

Talein released two singles that resonated with her fans. “Powerful Warrior” is the Anthem of 2019 and a song of empowerment. It encourages everyone to be warriors by using their spiritual weapons and faith in God to overcome life’s challenges. For this song, Talein received over 10 music nominations in 2019 and in 2020 she received 12 nominations. She won a Newsome Award for Contemporary Artist of the Year for 2019 and two Newsome Awards for Praise & Worship Artist for 2019 and 2020.

Blazing a trail in 2021, was Talein’s new single, “Atmosphere,” which was written and arranged by
Talein and produced by her son, chart-topping Music Producer RXNEY. This angelic song of worship is one of Talein’s favorites, because it is their first Mother-Son Collaboration. It has widespread appeal and quickly reached #1 for 3 straight weeks in a row on the VSC Gospel Network’s United Praise Radio Show’s Top 25 songs that is syndicated on 23 plus stations. It also
charted in Cashbox Magazine’s Black Gospel Top 50 for 7 months, entering the chart at #21 before
topping the chart at #6.

Also in 2021 Talein was nominated to receive awards in four music categories and won Graphic Designer of the Year for the first time. After many years of designing eye-catching CD jackets, bookcovers, flyers, commercial ads and various marketing materials for other creative artists, authors, and
entrepreneurs, the recognition was well-deserved.

 

Talein’s third single entitled, “Walls Down” was released in 2023. This soul-stirring contemporary rhythm and praise song was written by the dynamic Mother & Daughter duo, Tina & Talein and produced by Grammy-nominated Dennis “MLIK” Moore for 3HP Heavy Hittaz. “Walls Down” takes you on a journey of restoration and healing by allowing God to penetrate your walls to bring
you to a place of wholeness and peace. It’s already moving its way up the charts and is current #23
on the United Praise Radio Show.

Talein is married to her best friend and ministry partner, Apostle John F. Harris, and they Pastor Spirit of Glory Worship Center in Decatur, GA. They are also the parents of four beautiful adults and continue to utilize their marriage to be a blessing to others.
